Investigating the Boat

#18 Investigating the Boat oil on canvas 8x8"

This is a studio painting taken from sketches I did at Church Bay in Anglesey. The boys couldn't resist getting closer and closer to the fishing boat that was pulled up in the shallows.

I am a printmaker and painter inspired by my surroundings, particularly the sea and coast.

I try to paint en plein air if I can, enjoying the immediacy and intensity of those few hours out in the air. It is a contrast to the slow process of relief printmaking but I find the mediums exciting, both with their challenges and rewards.

I plan to blog several times a week with new paintings, prints, ideas and work in progress.
